Mpumalanga police boss Lieutenant-General Mondli Zuma visited the IEC’s Results Operation Centre in Mbombela on Wednesday morning and said the police are deployed at all voting stations and have the support of SANDF troops as well as the Air Force to ensure that all South Africans are safe and that elections elections take place unhindered.

Talking to 013NEWS Zuma said some of the hotspots identified are in Bushbuckridge, Nkomazi and Gert Sibande municipalities.

“There are twelve hotspots in Mpumalanga and we are monitoring them closely. All voting stations have the presence of SAPS members and we are assisted by the Air Force for air support. SANDF troops are also on stand-by in various bases in the province and are ready to assist the SAPS when needed.”

Counting will begin tonight when voting stations close at 7pm.
