SANCO’s Gert Sibande Regional Executive Committee on Hooliganism & Attacks to its Members in Ermelo

18 August 2016

The South African Civic Organization in Gert Sibande Region is highly disappointed and disgusted at the calculated and premeditated anti-SANCO behaviour of Hooligans wearing ANC T-Shirt in Ermelo, Ward 02 (Msukaligwa) who attacked and injured our members and supporters in the said ward. The unfounded attack to our members that seeks to shut our existence in society and political character assassination is regrettable and reactionary in nature.

Prior the local government elections we had viewed the attempts of singling out and humiliating the Provincial Secretary of SANCO at the meeting held in the ANC regional Office in Gert Sibande as an onslaught whose proponents have started to unmasked themselves. An attempt to assault our Provincial Secretary is an expression of personalizing issues, a confirmation of opportunism in advancing agenda of “SANCO Must Go” campaign. SANCO in Gert Sibande remains solid and united behind our Leaders and therefore any attempts to destabilise its leadership from within and outside will be crushed with no mercy.

There is a clear indicative of the premeditated motive on their part to invite and subject him to anti-revolutionary humiliation and instil fear to broader SANCO membership, which aimed at intimidating SANCO from articulating its stand point as an organisation. SANCO members in the Msukaligwa will defend the organisation and continue to progressively support without reservation the commitment to the good work that Cde Mike Soko and the entire SANCO REC is doing, in order to advance the current trajectory of the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) towards the creation of a better life for all our people.

The ANC is a broad church and it accommodates all classes towards the NDR and its objectives of reaching a National Democratic Society. We are the disciplined forces of the left and we don’t need fake and opportunistic careerist to anoint out loyalty to the poor and the marginalised groups of our society. SANCO shall approach the ANC with a view of ensuring that those that attacked to the Provincial Secretary are brought to book. Otherwise the absence of consequences will be seen as an approval of the attack of our Provincial Secretary. We are equally aware that there is a segment of the Alliance that doesn’t want a healthy alliance relationship. Hence use hooligans to set comrades against each other.

We also take strong exception to the unbecoming conduct of some leaders for failing to call the rented hooligans when they attempted to assault our leader with impunity, this conduct is suspect of someone who rejoiced at this anti-SANCO behaviour. We felt that if they were all sober, they should have reprimanded those well briefed hooligans and dogs so that their masters should come out.

We humbly wish to warn these rented hooligans and their masters that we will defend SANCO leadership and its members with our lives; even if it makes kicking this unbecoming behaviour out of them we will do that. No amount of threats will deter us from raising debates in the ANC. We also like to wish a speedy recovery to those injured and admitted in Hospital.
