Two awards from a finance audit institute for clean financial management make the youth league in the region proud of her.
The ANC youth league in the Nkangala region has congratulated the Nkangala municipal district manager Margaret Skosana for scooping the two awards.
Skosana’s administration took home the two trophies during the Imfo annual event in Durban a weekend ago.
The Imfo or the Institute of Municipal Finance Officers, which was established in 1929, does the annual award giving ceremony to recognise high standard financial management.
The league says without her “bold” and “leadership wits”, the Nkangala municipality would not have won the awards.
“This achievement will go a long way in inspiring confidence to the local municipalities in the district to adapt to the challenges of the day confronting municipalities,” the league said in a statement released on Thursday morning.
“At the same time we need a collective effort and unity of purpose and partnership with leaders in local, provincial and national government to improve the political management of municipalities and be responsive to the needs and aspirations of local communities,” it said.
Skosana’s administration scooping of the two trophies for clean financial management comes after the controversy surrounding eMalahleni mayor Lindiwe Ntshalintshali’s intention to buy a new car worth R1.5m, allegedly with service delivery money.
Ntshalintshali’s eMalahleni municipality falls under the Nkangala district municipality in the Mpumalanga province and she has since withdrew buying the car, after a public outcry.
“We are particularly proud of MM Skosana’s sterling job on these milestones and her leadership as the accounting officer of the municipality. The municipality wouldn’t be significantly counted in the national account without her bold and decisive leadership wits together with her team and mosy importantly the political role of the ANC deployees,” the league said.
