First she designed the interior of the latest BMW 7-series…

And then worked with RnB singer John Legend in the Make a Difference Campaign that seeks to create awareness and raise funds in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

But now the Middelburg gogo has scooped a top award at the Lilizela tourism awards at the Sandton convention centre.

Gogo Esther Mahlangu (81)’s taking home of the 2016 Minister’s Awards dominated media headlines this week and according to her painting is in her heart and blood and this, thanking her late mom and granny, who taught her the Ndebele art paintings, has made her quite prominent worldwide.

Tourism minister Derek Hanekom saluted the Mpumalanga woman “who is truly a national treasure and an outstanding ambassador for South Africa’s rich cultural offerings”.
