The quite outspoken husband of Maria Sepenyane will contest in the upcoming by-elections as an independent candidate in the area…

Diikgetse Sepenyane will contest in the 9 November 2016 by-elections declared by the IEC after the ANC removed his wife Maria Sepenyane.

Maria was removed after community members complained she was not the one who was chosen during the selection process earlier this year.

Diikgetse is a senior member of the SACP in the Nkangala region as well as an additional branch executive committee member of the ANC in the ward 6 Delmas area of Delpark and Malita where he contests and was once a councillor of the area three terms ago.

The ANC’s move to remove Maria, replacing her with Mishack Mthombeni, angered the Sepenyane couple, which has now approached the cops to investigate an alleged fake resignation letter that Maria allegedly wrote after the 3 August 2016 local government elections.

013NEWS could not confirm with Diikgetse whether he was contesting the by-elections but documents that we have seen by 013NEWS confirmed SepenYane was in as an independent.

ANC NEC member Jeff Radebe and other party heavyweights are expected to descend on the area to conduct door-to-door visits in the party’s final push ahead of the November 9 polls while on Sunday ANC chairman David Mabuza will address a Siyanqoba rally at the Delpark Primary School.

Various other parties, like DA, EFF, FF+, are contesting the Delmas by-elections.
