The Mpumalanga sports and culture MEC has unveiled the new look of the Mpumalanga cultural festival to be held in December 2016.
The new look differs from the previous one as the festival will now be called ‘Mpumalanga Cultural Experience.
The department said the reason they didn’t call the upcoming 1-3 December 2016 event a ‘festival’ was because in South Africa there were so many festivals but this time they were calling it an ‘experience’ where people are invited to come and experience the various cultures of the diverse people of the province.
Ndebele, siSwati, English and Afrikaans are promoted in the logo as well the Mpumalanga province “as a place of the rising sun”.
MEC Norah Mahlangu-Mabena said the December festival to be held at the Mbombela stadium will bring “vibrancy to the city and excellence of the province”.
“The provincial government through the department of culture, sports and recreation is co-ordinating the cultural experience in order to unite people and to attract visitors in our inclusive celebration of culture and heritage,” she said.
The festival will be presented over a period of three days and will feature comedy, music, traditional dance, etc.’
