He says the newspaper will cater for the entire region of Gert Sibande.

Leader of the South African Youth Development Forum, Mcebo Zwane, promises to bring something new to the Mpumalanga region of Gert Sibande.

Zwane is all set to launch a regional newspaper this coming weekend.

He said the newspaper will be called ‘Gert Sibande News’ and will cater for all the people of the region.

“Gert Sibande is one area that is media deprived,” he told the 013NEWS reporter on Tuesday night.

“If you can check, all the media institutions that are there, if they are not locally limited to a certain area, they are not from within the region and it cannot serve the local interests,” he said.

The launch will take place at the Badplaas Forever Resort, Badplaas this coming Saturday (27 May).

He said the launch event will be attended by a string of politicians from various political parties, including Gert Sibande ANC chairman Muzi Chirwa and DA provincial leader James Masango.

“We have extended invites to all radio stations in the region and to the Ligwalagwala FM, we expect others as well from the business sector and government departments,” he said.

Zwane said the paper will start publishing online immediately after launch and print will follow later.

“Gert Sibande is one area that is highly rural, you must know that people do not have access to even a tar roads but they must have a newspaper and in order to sustain a newspaper within this region you must not sell that newspaper, you must circulate it for free and make sure that people get hold of it,” he said.
