The date of 10 June 2017 has been announced as the date of the congress in the region.

The ANCYL in the Bohlabela region wants provincial leader Tim Mashele to serve as a member of the ANC regional executive committee in the region.

They also want Ruth Rakganya to take over from Steve Maunye as the deputy chairwoman of the ANC in the region.

ANC Bohlabela announced this coming Friday and Saturday as the dates set for the regional elective congress.

Regional leader Gillion Mashego, secretary Follas Sibuyi and Sibuyi’s deputy, Makhosazana Masilela, as well as treasurer Sidney Sibuyi will retain their posts.

This was cemented by provincial leader David Mabuza who said contestation kills the ANC, therefore regions should reach agreements on returning certain leaders to key positions.

ANCYL regional secretary Nhlamulo Mayindi said they want Mashele to “champion interests of young people in the ANC”.

“You know that the ANCYL is a preparatory school of the ANC. There’s always a time when ANCYL leaders must go to the ANC,” he said.

Mashele was elected the provincial leader of the ANCYL in the Mpumalanga province in July 2016 and is deputised by Gert Sibande’s Trevor Nkosi.

eHlanzeni’s Pholoso Mbatsane is the provincial secretary while Nkangala’s Sonto Mnguni and Sam Masango is the deputy secretary and treasurer respectively.

The league also want Charmaine Masina, Amos Skhosana, Mwake Mbuzili, Cynthia Maphanga, Zodwa Godi, Thulani Morepe as well as Bunu Malandule in the ANC REC.

“We further say that under the leadership of Gillion Mashego and Follas Sibuyi we are led,” Mayindi said.

“Therefore we are saying without hesitation that this coming weekend of 10 June comrade Gillion will close the conference but it would be after comrade Follas has read the declaration,” he said.
