Inquest dockets have been opened but cops say they were 2017 matriculants.

Two Matric pupils committed suicide soon after results were announced this week.

A nineteen-year-old from Waterval Boven was found dead in his room on Friday morning.

Police in the area said the boy received his Matric results and decided to end his life on Friday morning, at around 11.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that he hanged himself using an electric iron cord on his neck hanging from the roof,” Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said.

Another, from Schoemansdal, was found on Friday morning hanging dead from the roof of his room.

Hlathi said the teenager (also 19) was found at around 8 o’clock on the Friday morning and had also used an electric cord to end his own life.

He said the learner received the results through an sms and found that he failed.
