The festival was launched a week ago and is set for September 2018.
The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency aims to lure tourists to the province with the launch of the 2nd Mbombela Jazz Festival.
Officials say events are important as they create awareness about a tourism area.
It will be held on 8 September 2018 at the Mbombela stadium.
First launched last year, this year’s event is called the “second” and “promises to be bigger and better than the first one in 2017,” explains Economic Development MEC Eric Kholwane.
“September is Tourism Month and this event forms part of a series of awareness campaigns and events that have been scheduled to celebrate tourism month in the province”, he said.
With pre and post events, the Mbombela Jazz Festival will have the following activities:
– Triland Soccer Challenge to include teams from Swaziland and Mozambique on 21 July 2018 at the Mbombela stadium.
– Ray Phiri Memorial Lecture in partnership with the University of Mpumalanga to be held on 06 September 2018.
– Mbombela Jazz Festival Charity Golf day at Matumi Golf Course on 07 September 2018. The golf day will be used to collect school shoes to be donated to needy school children.
