Home care tips for face, body and feet:
Face:
Scrub/Mask, Cleanse, Moisturise
- Scrub/Mask
A scrub or facial mask helps to remove dead skin cells and open clogged pores.
- Cleanse
Cleansing ensures that all the debris from the first step is removed and makes you skin clearer and easy to breathe.
- Moisturise
Moisturising your skin, dependant on the time of washing (day/night) ensures that your skin gets the needed nutrients to keep hydrated. Hydration is important in a good skin routine. Do not forget to drink plenty of water. Remember that you need to choose a moisturiser dependent on your skin condition to achieve the best results.
Body:
As you do with your face, also apply to your body. The skin on our faces might be delicate, but at the end of a long day, our bodies need the same treatment. More so because they are covered underneath many layers of clothing. Nothing is more sensual than the touch of delicate, soft skin or to touch such human luxury; velvet and suede in live form.
Your body needs a good scrub too. You can invest in a home-made body scrub which is composed of brown/white sugar, olive oil and a tablespoon of your everyday body bath/shower wash. Use before you get into the bath/ shower by applying everywhere on body (avoid sensitive areas) and massaging thoroughly for 10-15 minutes; rinse off and moisturise body with everyday use moisturiser.
For additional suppleness to the skin, you can add coconut oil/ olive oil to your moisturiser for added moisture.
*Olive Oil helps to restore natural skin oil balance.
Coconut Oil is added moisture and helps to seal in hydration by preventing the skin pores from opening too wide after scrub. (Ideal for sun exposure use too, in conjunction with a relevant SPF sunscreen).
Feet:
Our feet walk lengths in our lifetime, given the saying “Walk a mile in my shoes”, therefore they too need special attention because they basically carry us throughout all that happens in or days-walking, driving, gym, sitting- meanwhile they are stuck between shoes.
To understand feet, one needs to understand reflexology, which is the mind-map of our feet and evidence that our feet are bodies on their own with a functional heart, lungs, kidneys and other survivalist ‘body ‘parts. A simple pedicure can do a lot, not only for your feet, but your entire body because we are an interconnection of cells and neurons and sensations.
Whatever your method may be for foot care; Chinese, holistic, homeopathic, bottom line is your feet need as much attention as your face and rest of your body. Here is a simple Do-It-Yourself method to take care of your carriers.
- Lemon Juice, Egg and Castor Oil
Method:
- Squeeze lemon juice into a bowl (2 Tablespoons)
- Break egg and separate (Use Yolk, do not let it mix with egg white)
- Add 1 teaspoon of castor oil
- Soak feet in warm water for approximately 10-15 minutes
- Scrub/Exfoliate with foot file.
- Apply mixture to feet for 10-20 minutes
- Rinse off and moisturise
For fast results, repeat routine 3 -5 times a week,
*warm water helps to soften skin and open pores/ Egg yolk helps with hydration/castor oil retains natural oils within skin (Olive Oil may be used as an alternative).
*Banana and Avocado mix may be used as alternative. Soak feet, apply blended mixture and rinse off. (Repeat 3-5 times/week).
*DO NOT use foot mixture for face, composition not the same.
