The party is the new official opposition party in the province, taking over from the DA.
The EFF in the Mpumalanga province on Friday thanked the tens of thousands who voted for the party in the province, saying the party of Julius Malema will continue to fight and keep government accountable.
He said they will make sure that “no money is stolen in the province and they account for each and every cent they use”.
They got 12.8% while the DA received 9.79% and the ANC 70.55% while counting continued on Friday.
The FF+ is on 2.43% and is poised to have a seat in the Mpumalanga legislature.
“We were expecting more, a decisive victory but unfortunately others voted for the ANC. We are happy that the people start to see us as a hope for the future of the country and we thank them for that.
“We will continue to fight for them, fight against corruption and make sure that the executive is accountable for each and every cent they use. We are on them,” Sedibe said on Friday afternoon.
The 12% rise of the Mpumalanga EFF in this year’s poll is a progress from the 6.82% they got in the 2014 general elections.
