CALL IT QUITS: Following a number of suspensions former ANC regional chairperson Ngrayi Ngwenya leaves the ANC. PICTURE by 013NEWS

Suspended Ehlanzeni ANC heavyweight Ngrayi Ngwenya has reportedly dumped the ANC.

He once led the African National Congress (ANC) as regional chairperson for numerous terms while David Mabuza was provincial chairperson and now Ngwenya says he has nothing to do with the party.

Rise FM News reported Wednesday 9 February 2022 that Lomdzala has seemingly dumped the party.

Lomdzala was suspended by the Mpumalanga ANC last year after he was captured live on TV demonstrating his support for former President Jacob Zuma and vowing that nobody would arrest Zuma.

He uttered these words while at Zuma’s Nkandla home.

Zuma had been sentenced to 15-months imprisonment by the Constitutional Court for contempt of court, after he refused to appear before the Zondo Commission, citing that Judge Raymond Zondo was a “biased” judge and he wanted him to recuse himself.

“I am not part of anything that involves the ANC,” Ngwenya said in an interview with Rise FM News.

“I am not a member of the ANC,” the suspended ANC strongman said.

This is one of the many times the ANC took the decision to suspend Ngwenya. In mid-2019, the NEC suspended his ANC membership pending a disciplinary hearing over allegations that he beat up the party’s acting provincial secretary Lindiwe Ntshalintshali.

“I am a businessman and I also do not want to be a councillor,” he said when speaking to Rise FM, seemingly suggesting that he had nothing to do with ANC positions.

But the party’s spokeswoman Sasekani Manzini is quoted on the provincial radio station as saying: “As the ANC we have not received anything formally that says he has now officially left the organization. We will comment when we have the correspondence”.
