The shooting occurred outside the popular restaurant.

A bouncer at News Cafe Witbank is currently in hospital after being shot at by drunk men after an argument over access to the top-notch restaurant turned ugly.

Manager Clement Ngwenya said he heard gunshots and when he went to check he found that one of the security guards was shot.

He was rushed to hospital…

“He is recuperating very well,” Ngwenya said when he spoke to the 013NEWS reporter Sunday midday.

“We can’t comment further as the matter is being handled by our head office,” he said.

The shooting occurred at around 10 on Saturday night 26 February 2022.

Ngwenya said it was not really a robbery but the shooters just wanted to enter the area when they got into a fierce argument with the guard.

“I can not comment further but yes he was shot and injured and is recuperating very well in hospital,” Ngwenya said.

The popular eatery was briefly closed following the incident but business has since resumed.

The police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
