DISCIPLINARIAN: ANC Mpumalanga Task Team coordinator Lindiwe Ntshalintshali has vowed to deal with senior leader Peter Nyoni following his criticism of the process undertaken to appoint a PTT. PICTURE BY YouTube

She said nobody is permitted to “attack” the ANC in the media.

The ANC in Mpumalanga shall deal with its senior member Peter Nyoni for having an interview with the SABC and in it complaining about the newly appointed Mpumalanga PTT, task team co-ordinator Lindiwe Ntshalintshali has said.

This could be understood to mean that the ANC may place Nyoni on suspension – making the list of now suspended senior ANC comrades in Mpumalanga quite long.

Certain comrades in the province are furious at the manner in which the PTT was appointed as the structure excluded other experienced leaders.

Nyoni complains that the PTT was announced only to bring back the very same people that they have been complaining against all along.

He has threatened to return to court and stop the planned upcoming 13th provincial conference from sitting.

Other comrades charged that the national working committee (NWC) erred when dissolving the ANC Mpumalanga structure as it does not have the powers to do so.

“In principle, we wanted this PEC dissolved long time ago but they kept on delaying the matter and now they flout processes and to make matters worse, they retain the same people in the so called PTT which does not make sense at all,” Mafika Nkosi in Gert Sibande said when he spoke to the 013NEWS.

“The NWC does not have powers to dissolve PEC. Only the NEC can do that. The NWC can only submit a report of recommendation to the NEC, not dissolve. I just wonder what is happening here,” he said.

The conference was meant to sit on 11-13 March 2022 but has now been postponed due to disputes from branch level that were sent to the dispute committee over alleged manipulation processes at BGMs.

President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Mpumalanga ANC branches Monday 7 March 2022 in the Ehlanzeni region as tensions continue to boil over ahead of the much-awaited 13th elective conference.

Ntshalintshali said: “They keep saying there is dysfunctionality in Mpumalanga but as leadership we are there. We want to say that the office of the provincial secretary shall attend to Peter Nyoni and all those that insult us in the social media or [other] media platforms”.

The office of the provincial secretary is her own office – which has in the past suspended a lot of comrades, such as controversial Nkomazi ANC heavyweight Ngrayi Ngwenya, for bringing the image of the party into disrepute.

Peter Nyoni told the SABC: “We want to say that we are going back to court and we are going to interdict this conference,” he said during an interview with the public broadcaster..

“This conference is not in the best interest of the ANC. It is in their own best interest because you would understand and appreciate that what manifests in the province is what is happening at the national level. We know that this is an attempt by the NWC to serve their own needs using Mpumalanga”.
