The armed men arrived at Nicholas Peu’s house on Thursday night and gunned him down, before running away with his car, a Polo.
Nkangala ANC spokesman Sello Matshoga said Peu’s death caused shivers in the organisation.

“What shocks us is that they took the car and abandoned it near the Gamodwe stadium but they didn’t steal anything from it. There was grocery in the car, there was wallet and a laptop. All those were found untouched,” said Matshoga.
The armed men entered the house where Peu was renting in Siyabuswa’s Madubaduba through the garage and shot him.
“The ANC joins all people who knew him in mourning the loss of a remarkable leader, who was widely loved and respected.
“We extend heartfelt sympathies to Peu’s wife, and their children and we say the thoughts and prayers of the nation are with them during this difficult time,” added Matshoga.
