SELLO MATSHOGA

The ANC in Nkangala Region has learned with shock the news of the sudden death of one of the tried and tested cadres of our movement, comrade Viljoen Judas Mtsweni.

Comrade Viljoen passed away on Thursday night (2 February 2017) at the prime of his life, at Louis Pasteur Hospital in Tshwane, after several months of illness.

His death has robbed our people of a great son. He has left behind a deep void which will be difficult to fill.

Comrade Viljoen will always be remembered for his jokes and cheerfulness. He was humane, urbane and respectful.

After the unbanning of the ANC in 1990, he joined the ANC branch of Thabana-Ramokgeletsane (Dr JS Moroka Sub-Region), he was later elected as a branch secretary, and was later elected as Deputy Chairperson of ANC Western Region and he is currently the ANC REC member in the region.

He was central and very instrumental in the rebuilding of the ANC branches, the Leagues and the Alliance in this Region, since 1990 to date.

He worked for the provincial department of human settlements in the Mpumalanga province and served in various capacities within the department. He was a dedicated servant of our nation, who always had the best interests of the people of Mpumalanga at heart.

Judas was known for his passion, drive and dedication efforts to improve housing conditions in the region.

His death is a stunning blow to the ANC, more so that it comes at a time when his media and communication skills are needed most, as we prepare for the national consultative conference, national policy conference and national elective conference this year.

We pledge to pick up the fallen spear and forge ahead with the noble task of serving our country and its people.

The African National Congress in the region is left poorer by Comrade Viljoen`s death. His commitment and diligence in the service of our people will be sorely missed especially at this critical time which calls on us to accelerate the pace of fundamental socio-economic transformation. Comrade Viljoen Judas Mtsweni will be missed for his selfless and persistent commitment to the people of Mpumalanga. His legacy will remain in the cadreship he developed over time.

His ideas will continue to serve as a beacon to our movement. We take this opportunity to convey condolences to his family, loved ones and comrades. We wish them strength and fortitude during this untimely period of the falling of this gallant servant of our people.
