President Jacob Zuma has authorised the deployment of 441 soldiers to co-operate with cops at the opening of Parliament on Thursday.
Zuma will deliver the State of the Nation Address 2017 and is expected to outline the programmes of his government as the year begins.
The presidency said Zuma authorised the SANDF members to maintain “law and order”.
Both SANDF and SAPS members will be deployed in Parliament from 5 to 10 February.
Zuma is also expected to address an ANC rally on the same day of the Sona, just 5 minutes away from Parliament, before addressing the nation later on at night.
