He is known in the region as someone who always had keen interest in leading the region in previous congresses but now it looks like 2017 is the year for Thulasizwe Thomo to emerge as the next leader of the region.
Gert Sibande ANCYL spokesman Thulasizwe Thomo is poised to take over the role of regional chairperson when the league holds its regional elective congress.
He will take over the baton from Trevor Nkosi – the league’s provincial deputy chairman in the Mpumalanga province.
The campaign to have Thomo taking up the seat heated up seriously a week ago on social networks, with Nkosi giving it a nod with this maxim: “Onenkinga sohlangana ku-Congress, loosely translated as “If you have problem [with Thomo becoming chairperson] we’ll meet you in Congress”.
The sub-regions also want current regional secretary James Nkosi to retain his post.
Regions across the province are preparing for ANCYL elective congresses.
They want these conferences to be held before month-end.
Thomo accepted nominations but said the revolution is not about an individual.
