The six workers fired at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Ntaba Nyoni farm outside Badplaas are demanding the wealthy politician gives them back their jobs.

The six workers – which includes a white manager – were accused of stealing 33 bags of fertiliser and maize seeds, chain saws, grass-cutters, vehicle batteries, a welding machine and a mobile toilet before they got suspended on 22 December 2017.

According to farm manager Kobus Rall, a disciplinary hearing concluded on 3 January 2018 and a recommendation from the “consultants” advised they should be fired.

But now the workers – barely three months after the incident – are striking back, making demands that they must be reinstated and that their dismissal was “unfair”.

“Kobus is racist first of all,” one of the fired six told journalists outside the gate of the Ntaba Nyoni during a march by the Mpumalanga EFF.

Mpumalanga EFF leader Collen Sedibe led the march to the President’s farm, charging they were very disgusted by the dismissal.

“The EFF is highly disappointed and disgusted by the conduct of the Ntaba Nyoni management of the newly elected president of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa,” Sedibe said.

“During his State of the Nation Address speech Ramaphosa made mention that he will create more job opportunities for the people.

“But he fires workers,” he said.

The workers were fired just 5 days after he took the reigns as the 14th President of the ANC in Nasrec on 18 December 2017, defeating Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma with 179 votes.

The Nyaba Nyoni management said they will reply within 7 days of receipt of the EFF memorandum.
