The Klarinet mom had since been sent for psychiatric evaluation to determine whether she was fit to stand trial.

The case against multiple-murder accused Zinhle Maditla has been postponed yet again.

She appeared just after 11:30 on Tuesday morning (12 Mar) week in the eMalahleni magistrates court clad in blue jeans and a white striped tank-top, her hair plaited in a different style than when she last appeared in court.

Standing silently in the accused’s box, Zinhle appeared calm and composed as state prosecutor Johan Harmse told the court that the various mental evaluations she had been sent for had since been completed but that some reports of those evaluations have still not been received by the court.

Magistrate Mdumiseni Mavuso postponed the matter to allow for the reports to be received in order to allow for the inquiry into her fitness to stand trial to go ahead.

The 24 year-old Zinhle stands accused of the planned murder of her four children on 27 Dec 2019.

It is alleged that she fed her four kids – two girls aged 8 and 4 and two boys aged 7 years and 11 months – food laced with poison.

She was arrested on 30 December 2018 after the decomposed bodies of the kids were found wrapped in blankets in her rented room in Klarinet and decided to hand herself over to Vosman cops.

Family members were in court supporting Zinhle including her mother, sister and the father of the kids.

She will return to court on 4 April 2019.
