Heavily pregnant Delmas cop dies after her car is hit from back

Doctors were able to deliver the baby but sadly the mom eventually died. 


A heavily pregnant policewoman from the Delmas area of Mpumalanga died Monday this week after the car she was driving got hit from the back by an unknown vehicle. 

The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

Her name was Thandi Ntuli, a constable by rank. 

Spokesman Colonel Mtsholi Bhembe said Ntuli was 8-months pregnant.

The 36-year-old was driving from work on Saturday 11 May 2019 on the R42 Bronkhorstpruit Road when an unknown vehicle struck hers at the back after the driver allegedly skipped a stop sign.

She was rushed to hospital in a helicopter on that Saturday she was declared dead on Sunday. 

Police boss Major-General Frans Mashika extended his heartfelt condolences to her family.

Mashika said her death has left a void in the hearts of her family, the police as well as the community which she served.
