Middelburg lawyer and businessman Mtho Xulu has been announced as one of the 200 winners of the 2020 Mail & Guardian’s Most Outstanding Young South Africans Award.
Xulu won in the category Business, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

His name was announced alongside 199 others on 11 September 2020.
The Mail & Guardian competition has 12 categories – sports, entertainment, business, civil society, education, environment, Covid-19, media, politics, health, justice and science.
Each year the Mail & Guardian opens up nominations for South Africa’s most outstanding young people.
Organisers said for this year’s leg they received 8 000 nominations and began shortlisting until they got to the 200.

The 33-year-old Xulu is a founder and director of JSX Investments, founded in May 2009.
The company has interests in property, technology, transport, cable manufacturing, construction, horticulture and mining.
A lawyer by profession, he is also the director of the Small Enterprise Development Agency and Business Unity South Africa.
Xulu says his proudest moment was the completion of his Bachelor of Laws degree from Unisa through distance learning.
“This experience honed my skills in terms of discipline, self-reliance and independent thinking, I’ve carried these skills into my own businesses and my in role as the leader of organised business,” he said.
