The family is trying to figure out who on earth could do such an evil thing to a young woman who was as personable as Hillary was.

The death of Hillary Gardee has again put the spotlight on another victim of South Africa’s never-ending femicide.

About 900 South African women were killed in the 2021/22 financial year, according to a latest crime statistics, and Cele said a special unit to fight gender-based violence will be established in each and every police station across South Africa.

Tuesday this week Hillary’s family were seen at the site near the R532 connecting Mbombela and Sabie. They asked journalists to not take photos of them as they were performing a ritual to collect Hillary’s spirit.

The killer abducted Hillary at the Nelspruit Plaza Spar at around 17h00 on Friday 29 April 2022 and abandoned her lifeless body at the forest on a deserted stretch of the Sabie road.

Hillary’s family opened a case of missing person soon after she disappeared on Friday.

They also offered a reward of R100 000 to anyone who could help the family find her.

She was with her 3-year-old daughter who was dropped off near Hillary’s home unharmed.

Neighbours recognised the child and when they asked her the where about of his mother the child said: “Mommy is fighting”.

Police say they’ve activated their 72-hour action plan to hunt for the killer and have opened a kidnapping and murder case.
