Women leadership in the Africa’s oldest liberation movement has always been sacrificed at the alter of some or other reason but now KZN is leading the charge of installing powerful women to chairpersonship positions.

TRACEY NOMBUSO REIGN

Power has always been known to be the ability to achieve a desired outcome. What we desire as women is to see one of us in a position of authority and sitting on a decision making table.

Women have always been marginalised and stripped of their power for far too long. There is a tendency in our country where oftentimes many claim to advocate for women’s rights while excluding them from positions of power and authority.

This particular force which seeks to eliminate the voices of women often allows women to earn lesser than men and never affording them opportunities to lead.

One thing we ought to recognise as a nation is that violence thrives in conditions and societies where women are less empowered. We are not in a pursuit of the sameness with men but rather a pursuit of equal distribution of economic and political rights for women. This country belongs to women too!

For this reason women across the province of KZN are calling for the leadership of Nomusa Dube-Ncube as the incoming provincial chairperson of KZN.

We reject the notion of preferential treatment which allows the dominance of men. Upholding women’s rights and implementing policies that empower women will create a stronger sense of community amongst our people. It remains a fact that violence breeds in places where women have no access to opportunities and resources.

In this very moment and hour, men are currently dominating the public office. We as women should reject the current system which claims to empower women in our country while seeking to prevent them from running for the upper echelons of public office.

Through the leadership of Nomusa Dube-Ncube, we will rebuild this nation and that through her reign, young women will come to a realisation that it is time to eliminate all forms of inequality.

Through her leadership the current darkness that blankets women in this country with fear due to gender based violence will be wiped out as she stands as a pillar for the empowerment of women.

If you had considered Nomusa Dube-Ncube an enemy yesterday, forget the former things because no one can extinguish the flames of power seen through her leadership.

May we all embrace the vision she comes with as the incoming Provincial Chairperson of KZN.
