Mpumalanga ANC spokeswoman Sasekani Manzini has the highest number of branch nominations to go to the 30-seat Mpumalanga legislature.
He says as the police ministry they are not revealing any details of the case as this may jeopardise ongoing investigations.
Finding a break-through in the murder case of Orlando Pirates goal-keeper and Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa has been very difficult, the police minister said.
He said that his department was making sure they get every piece of information and are hoping they will be able to come to a conclusion on the case.
“The little that I got I can’t divulge because it will compromise everything,” Fikile Mbalula said.
He was being interviewed by 702’s Karima Brown on her show on Monday night this week.
“We are looking closely into it and we are doing everything. Everything, as I talk to you now we are doing everything,” he said.
“Senzo’s case has been very difficult in all angles, in terms of witnesses, people and from a point of view of forensics, overall I can tell you we are doing everything to get the killers,” Mbalula said.
Meyiwa, who was also Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, was killed on the night of 26 October 2014 at girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vooslorus.
The soccer star was enjoying drinks that night sitting with Kelly’s sister Zandi and mother Ntombi as well as the child of music producer Chico Twala, Longwe as well as his friends Tumelo Madlala and Mthokozisi Twala.
The murder has been described as ‘cold case’, with no one brought to book.
It was believed unknown men arrived at the house on the night and attempted to rob them but ended up killing Senzo however this version is under police investigation.
