ANCYL presidential contender Reggie Nkabinde wanted KZN secretary Thanduxolo Sabelo to be the secretary general in his slate, he told a daily newspaper.
The party says the killing of the man is senseless.
The Democratic Alliance in the Mpumalanga province has asked that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) investigates the killing of a pedestrian by Premier David Mabuza’s convoy.
The man who has not yet been identified was knocked and killed by one of the cars transporting the Premier while he was crossing the N4 Road at Crocodile Valley in Mbombela on Thursday morning this week.
“The DA is outraged by the senseless death of the pedestrian who lost his life at the hands of yet another ANC blue-light collision,” provincial party leader James Masango said.
“The drivers of ANC blue-light vehicles have totally disregarded other road users including pedestrians as such many lives are lost due to their reckless,” he said.
Last year two men died in a head-on collision while state security minister David Mahlobo’s bluelight convoy was passing.
The DA has a policy of ‘no-blue-lights’ for its leaders.
It has been calling for the blue-lights to be scrapped.
The reason the DA is approaching the IPID is because the drivers of Mabuza’s blue-light convoy are policemen and the IPID is the only body that investigates cops.
“This proves that the ANC- led government is a law unto themselves and has no regard for the lives of ordinary citizens in Mpumalanga.,” he said.
“ANC leaders refuse to account for the dangers of their blue-lights.
“We are committed to ensuring that a full-scale investigation takes place, one which establishes the contributory factors of this accident”, Masango said.
