Sasekani: ANC’s “unique PGC” part of Mabuza’s “visionary leadership”

The ANC in the Mpumalanga province has promised they will as well visit the other provinces to continue with their campaign for unity.

The ANC has described its Mpumalanga general council as “unique” and “a resounding success” after leaders from four provinces pitched up to speak unity.

North West chairman Supra Mahumapelo, Free State’s Ace Magashule, Gauteng’s Paul Mashatile and KZN’s Willies Mchunu attended the PGC at the Mbombela stadium on Saturday.

All the leaders agreed that there should not be a “winner takes all” when the the ANC convenes a 54th congress and they all agreed that there will have to be “a collective of officials that is uncontested”, and that delegates across the country will have to agree amongst themselves on the officials.

ANCWL deputy president Serofa Ntombela as well as MKMVA deputy president Tailor Ntsimbini and the ANCYL’s Desmond Moela also spoke at this special provincial general council – with the SACP, COSATU and SANCO giving messages of support.

Close to 8 000 members attended the political gathering at a tent erected next to the Mbombela stadium.

Spokeswoman Sasekani Manzini said the PGC giving Mashatile, Magashule, Mahumapelo and Willies Mchunu the platform to speak follows a resolution they took months ago “to perform all that is humanly possible to unite the ANC”.

“This unique PGC sat as a result of the visionary leadership of the provincial executive committee, as led by Chairperson Comrade DD Mabuza, which has in the recent past taken a resolution to perform all that is humanly possible to unite the ANC  and make it a stronger and more efficient tool of liberation in the hands of the oppressed,” she said.

“Speakers urged ANC members and structures to unite our organisation both in speech and deeds,” Manzini said

“It encouraged our members to see the 54th National Conference as a platform to unite the ANC and not see it as an end in itself,” she said.
