A government investigation into the conditions of people living in farms has been completed.
Committee chairperson, Adv Gerhard Louw today handed the commissions report over to Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza at a press conference held at the Riverside Government Complex.
Mabuza’s government launched the probe a year ago to investigate the living conditions of poor people living on farms in order to address their socio-economic problems and equal service delivery for all.
Mabuza’s spokesman Zibonele Mncwango on Tuesday said: “The commission of enquiry was established in September 2015 and was mandated to investigate and report on the socio-economic conditions of farm-dwellers in the province.
“The commission has investigated and made its recommendations on amongst other things the protection of human rights, safety and security of farm-dwellers, security of tenure, employment, access to adequate and sustainable housing, basic services, such as water, electricity, sanitation, quality education, healthcare, justice and illegal evictions”.
