A list bearing the top 6 officials who ought to be elected when the ANC convenes its 54th national congress has emerged on social networks, placing Premier Mabuza as deputy president and Free State ANC leader Ace Magashule as secretary.
The list has been doing the rounds on social networks since the week began.
It wants former AU chairwoman Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to be the President, deputised by Mabuza, and national deputy secretary Jessie Duarte to retain her post, this time deputising Magashule.
The list also wants NEC member Lindiwe Sisulu to emerge as the chairwoman of the ANC, replacing National Assembly speaker Baleka Mbete.
It lists Roy Moodley as the preferred candidate to take over from Zweli Mkhize as the national treasurer of the ANC.
Moodley, a businessman, is with the ANC in Umhlanga, eThekwini.
The ANC national congress in December 2017 may see Dlamini-Zuma and current deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa taking each other head-on for the party’s number one job.
Ramaphosa has the backing of Cosatu and has been endorsed by the ANC in the Northern Cape, while Dlamini-Zuma is backed by ANCWL, ANCYL and the Premier League, which comprises of provincial leaders – Mpumalanga, North West, Free State as well as KZN.
Recently SANCO endorsed Ramaphosa to take over as the president of the ANC.
