A 1998 Mercedes Benz belonging to Defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has been auctioned for only R10.
Lawyers from the King William’s Town Motor Engineering confirmed indeed the minister’s C180 Merc went for R10.
The car had been taken to the King William’s Town Motor Engineering in order to be fixed for faults in the engine and gearbox year ago.
The sale took place in Eastern Cape this week.
The car was used to transport Mapisa-Nqakula’s 96-year-old father.

Lawyers from the garage said they decided to buy the car themselves because no bidders showed up at this week’s auction.
