The party says the void he left will be difficult to fill.

The ANC in the Nkangala region has described the ward councillor who perished in a car crash as “humane”, “urbane” and “respectful”.

Nicknamed “Richard”, Mlingo Mabena died in a car crash on Sunday.

“He was a dedicated servant of the community,” ANC spokesman Sello Matshoga said.

“He was humane, urbane and respectful,” he said.

Richard was the chairman of the ANC in the Simunye branch of the JS Moroka municipalitu’s ward 26.

The area is called Loding Village.

His death comes when his contribution is required most by the ANC, Matshoga said.

“Comrade Mabena will always be remembered for his jokes and cheerfulness.

“At this moment of grief and pain within the ranks of the ANC, the alliance and the mass democratic movement in general, we would like to appeal to all members of these formations to draw strength and courage from the life of Comrade Mabena.

“We further appeal to all those formations of our movement to draw strength and learn from his dedication, selflessness and loyalty to the ANC,” said Matshoga.
