The upper structure says they do not aim to “sabotage” branches that do not want to toe the line.
The Nkangala ANCYL says accusations that they deliberately snubbed BGMs in the JS Moroka sub-region are an “attention-seeking stunt” because first of all those branches never invited them to the branch general meetings.
The league regional executive committee responds to a complaint levelled by ward 18 secretary William Mokwele who said that branches aligned to Ndumiso Mokako and Trevor Nkosi were being snubbed by REC deployees when they tried to convene BGMs.
“Dates were not submitted to the regional secretary’s office as per the administration process, which means the regional secretary’s office was not aware that the branches were convening,” spokesman Banele ‘Masheleni’ Nkosi said.
Mokwele, who wrote a letter of complaint to the PEC, NEC and NTT, said other branches that were snubbed by the REC in the JS Moroka sub-region is ward 6, 7, 15, 17, 18 and 23 and were “currently frustrated”.
But Masheleni said they view the Mokwele complaint as “grandstanding” and “attention-seeking stunt” because if acting regional secretary Cathy Mkhuma had received the dates of their BGMs she was going to definitely send a deployee.
“If there’s any proof that dates were submitted let it be brought forward so the matter can be attended,” he said.
“We refuse to be drawn to petty stunts by people who wanna cause noise just to draw the attention of the PEC and NEC. We view such moves as nothing but grandstanding,” he said.
He said there is a branch in Hendrina that submitted their date to Mkhuma and a deployee was sent.
Masheleni added they can never sabotage any branch in the Nkangala region.
“There is no intention at all from the REC to sabotage any branch within the region.
“The branch annual general meetings are the processes of the organisation and can’t be diverted or done through a short-cut,” he said.
