Social media was abuzz with news of her death and an outpouring of grief as South Africans woke up to the news early Monday morning.
Zindzi was the last born child of former President Nelson Mandela and struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
Pandor expressed condolences on behalf of her department to the Mandela family, friends and colleagues.
“Zindzi will not only be remembered as a daughter of our struggle heroes, Tata Nelson and Mama Winnie Mandela but as a struggle heroine in her own right. She served South Africa well.
“May her soul rest in peace,” said Pandor
