The group invites all community members to come forward and get involved in such positive initiatives to make Witbank great again.

Afrikaner lobby group AfriForum is currently fixing roads in badly-run Emalahleni City, the Witbank News has reported.

The eMalahleni City belongs to the eMalahleni local municipality, one of Mpumalanga’s badly-run municipalities that was recently found to be engaged in the glaring financial mismanagement and blatant impunity by auditor-general Kimi Makwetu.

Last month AfriForum reported fixing 300 potholes on neglected roads in the Mpumalanga town of Bethal, west of Ermelo – that falls under the Govan Mbeki local municipality, another badly-run Mpumalanga municipality that failed account to Makwetu for lost public monies.

AfriForum leader in the Witbank area, Alfred Friess, said the municipality has failed to service its people and was now up to the people to do things for themselves.

They are inviting all community members and businesspeople to come get involved in turning a once great city to be GREAT AGAIN.

Friess said they undertook this project “seeing it contributes to a better community”.

“The local municipality is still failing to perform the necessary maintenance to eMalahleni’s infrastructure,” he said.
