The raw deal dates dates back to 2017 and has this month been registered with the cops in Witbank.

Mpumalanga Kwaito musician Nkululeko ‘Pura Mashankura’ Nyembe has opened a case of fraud against music promoter Sibusiso Mabena who he accuses of “double-crossing” him.

Case number 133/07/2020 was opened against Mabena at the eMalahleni police station on 15 July 2020.

Pura said he was promised by Mabena that he would get his Kwaito songs played on radio stations, especially SABC stations, but then disappeared with his R1 500 and since then never picked up his calls.

He said their meetings took place in February 2017, and saw him also pay an extra amount of R500 for Mabena’s food at Nandos.

“He told me his agency would play my music on the radio stations and that I should pay R1 500. Since then he disappeared,” Pura from Secunda said.

“I opened the case of breach of agreement, I have no choice. It really frustrated me this thing as I have been calling and messaging him with no positive feedback,” the Sonke SingamaVIP hitmaker said when he spoke to the 013NEWS reporter.

“He would tell me that he’s busy arranging it for me and that I must be patient,” he said.

He said their meeting at the Nandos restaurant in Witbank was facilitated by a Nhlanhla Nkambule from Witbank.

In total he worked out that Mabena owes him R2 000 – R1 500 for the deal and R500 for the meal.

Sources say Mabena lives in Sandton where he runs his entertainment company while Pura in Secunda remains aggrieved.

“I really need the money. I feel he undermines me because each time I phone and ask for it he tells me things I don’t understand”.

The cops in Witbank confirmed they were investigating “a possible” case of fraud.
