They are warning people to be aware it’s not them.
Golden Stars Awards director Glen Maake has asked the public to be not “confused” by a talent singing competition using the same name as them.
The new grouping using the popular ‘Golden Stars’ name is also within the Bushbuckridge area where the famed Golden Stars Awards run their award-giving shows and the former is searching for talented singers.
Maake said they were made aware of their imitators by a social media frenzy “regarding the said singing talent competition”.
“We would like to confirm that we are aware of a certain singing talent search competition bearing a similar name and offering some services akin to our services within the same industry in the Bushbuckridge region,” Maake said in a statement.

He said they are distancing themselves from it.
He said people have been sending “enquiries” to them about how to enter the imitator’s singing competition, thinking they were the ones running it.
He said the only event which they associate with is Miss Golden Stars South Africa beauty pageant.
Maake added that they will ensure that such similarly named event doesn’t continue by taking actions against it to stop future confusion.
“We wish to assure our followers, partners, associates and the public at large that the Golden Stars Awards will continue to inspire many people from various walks of life by organising, celebrating and honouring top-performing local stars who are actively involved in television and film, media and entertainment sectors,” said Maake.
