The main awards event will take place on Saturday, December 22, 2018 within the Bushbuckridge region.
Bushbuckridge entertainers are going to be honoured with Golden Stars Awards, the organisers have said.
The Golden Stars Awards is an award giving ceremony and has categories like Film (TV), Artistry, Music, Media and Entertainment.
It intends to identify, celebrate and honour those greatest performers who are shining in the local and national stages.
Communication head Comfort Ndlovu said it’s part of their intentions to celebrate rich talent and “also promote the pride of our shining stars for the whole world to see”.
“This year we are coming with another exciting style that will raffle feathers,” Ndlovu said.
“We are bringing all the top individuals of the entertainment industry who hail from Bushbuckridge. Last year we had among other well-known personalities like Thabo Mkhabela of Leshole fame on SABC 1’s Skeem Saam soapie. We also had the likes of multi-award winning musician Themba Nyathi, Vincent Mgiba who is an actor on soapies such as iSidingo, Skeem Saam and many other soapies. Sifiso Mbowane of the famous provincial Kasi Style Clothing brand also graced the event and walked away with the Best Brand of the Year accolade,” he said.
“So that’s part of our highlight of last year. This is the greatest of all platforms for all our entertainers to celebrate in style,” he said.
This year’s Golden Stars Awards will honour the top entertainers from Bushbuckridge communities.
Ndlovu said their aim of honouring Bushbuckridge entertainers was to make sure that local entertainers “rub shoulders and celebrate in style”.
He said “gone are the days of having local celebrities not being honoured at home”.
“Last year we were at Acornhoek in the far northern side of Bushbuckridge and this time around we are taking it back to one of the kasis that received more votes from the masses as we have been running the competition through our social media platforms,” he said.
“Hence one our hash tag for this year’s event is #tahatavuya – a Xitsonga word for ‘its happening again’,” said Ndlovu.
The Golden Stars Awards are organised by Delias Media Group – a mass media and public relations firm that is owned by the former journalist and media specialist, Sipho Dzimba.
Last year’s event saw 16 individuals winning the awards.
Dzimba said this year they will honour 30 individual artists.
“Last year’s nominations encouraged us to keep tabs with the brand. We are encouraged by the great work of our local stars and do believe that this will go a long way to promote their talents while they also get in touch with each other,” he said.
“This is the greatest platform for them to celebrate, enjoy and network amongst themselves,” Dzimba said.
The main awards event will take place on Saturday, 22 December 2018 in Bushbuckridge and the venue will be announced.
“If you know of anyone who is into Film (TV), Artistry, Music, Media and Entertainment and they are from Bushbuckridge, tell them about the Golden Stars Awards. Unga Sali mfethu, sihamba phansi and it will be happening in style once again,” Dzimba said.
