The identified needy families are having the blankets delivered at their homes than at an event due to Covid-19 restrictions.
ANC NEC member Bongani Bongo has used the occasion of his 43rd birthday to remember the needy, donating blankets, food parcels and renovating a dilapidated home belonging to a pensioner who lives with grandkids.
The donations to 40 families happened in his home village of Siyabuswa in Mpumalanga.

The families were identified by the local ANC branch leadership of ward 5 – his ANC branch in the JS Moroka local municipality.
Branch secretary Monica Lebepe said they will not have an event due to Covid-19 restrictions but instead the identified people are being visited at their respective houses to be given the food parcels as well as the blankets.
“There is also the dilapidated home of the pensioner. We have bought two doors, one for the kitchen and another for his room. We felt pain when we saw that the madala’s front door was in such a state during this winter and we spoke to Bongo, who assisted,” Libepe said.
Bongo turned 43 years on 29 June 2021 and was wished “well” by the ANC – wished “strength and good health” on the day of his birthday.
“Continue serving our people with diligence, dedication and commitment,” the ANC said in a poster released on social media.
Libepe said Bongo won’t visit any home as his 71-year-old mother is currently in hospital.
It has been two weeks now since Emily Makhanya-Bongo was admitted at the Mediclinic Heart Hospital in Tshwane.
