Former Mbombela municipal manager Wiseman Khumalo has returned to the helm of the municipality after he whizzed through interviews.
Announcement of Khumalo’s reappointment was made Monday this week 28 March 2022 by mayor Sibongile Makhushe.
A post was advertised in January 2022 and Khumalo faced off with 2 other applicants before he was making the cut.

The City of Mbombela local municipality held a special council meeting Monday, where Khumalo’s reappointment was was decided.
Khumalo is quite experienced in the environment of local government and has close to 20 years experience in the field, first working as head of internal audits.

Khumalo was first appointed to the post on a 2-year contract between from 1 October 2019 to 30 September 2021 and the post was finally advertised on 26 January 2022.
He first arrived at the City of Mbombela in July 2017 when he was appointed acting CFO by then MEC of co-operative governance Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane. But in September 2018, a council meeting resolved to hire Khumalo on a 5-year contract as the CFO due to his “phenomenal ability” in finance.
Before this, Khumalo had been eHlanzeni district municipal CFO from 2009 where he obtained 8 consecutive clean audits.
The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) on Tuesday 29 March 2022 congratulated and said they will continue their “good relationship” with him.
“We look forward to share our ideas of economic development and job creation with him and his team, and wish him all the best with the development and implementation of the 5-year plan under his management,” the organisation said in a statement.
