Limpopo doesn’t have what is considered a top performing public school and Northern Cape too only has one.

The department of basic education says it has identified 324 public and private schools that got a 100% pass rate in the 2021 national senior certificate exams.

212 of these identified schools are English-speaking, 57 Afrikaans and 55 are a mix.

Only one school in Mpumalanga featured on the list as a top performing school…

…And that school is Highveld Muslim Combined School in Kinross which ranks number 85 out of the 324 schools identified nationally.

Highveld Muslim Combined School had 7 matriculants getting a 100% pass rate in the 2021 class.

25 schools in Gauteng have been consistently performing well since 2017, KwaZulu-Natal (22 schools), Cape Town (22 schools) and Free State (14 schools).

Phumanyova High School in Nongoma, KZN leads the list of South Africa’s best performing public schools – with 350 matriculants passing with flying colours in 2021, followed by Hoerskoel Waterkloof in Pretoria, Gauteng at 314 pupils.

The table below by BusinessTech outlines the top performing school in each province, according to the number of matriculants that passed the 2021 exams.
