PRET sends 'directives' to branches to nominate NDZ
GENERALS: PRET secretary general, Sunday Mathebula (L) and president, Themba Sgudla have directed their members to swell BGMs across the province and nominate NDZ for president, DD Mabuza as her deputy. PICTURE BY Ridge Times.

The trouble-making group was launched by Premier David Mabuza in March this year as an organisation fighting poverty and giving young people access to economic opportunities and is being branded as his ‘EFF’.

The Practical Radical Economic Transformation (PRET) group in the Mpumalanga province has issued directives to all its branches in the province to influence ANC branch nomination meetings in favour of ex-AU chairwoman Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

In a letter dated 25 October 2017 and seen by 013NEWS this week, the group’s secretary Sunday Mathebula instructs all PRET members to make sure they are ANC members and do participate in BGMs in order to install Dlamini-Zuma as the next President.

In the introduction, Mathebula writes that PRET is registered as a Section 21 entity, meaning it is a non-profit organisation, and says is endorsed by Premier David Mabuza as “a social partner to assist government” fight poverty.

“To all Chief Generals and the whole members of PRET SA across the province,” Mathebula wrote in the letter.

“You are instructed to do the following,” he wrote.

“1.) Participate in all BGM meetings, 2.) Call mass meetings (PRET SA), 3.) Make sure that they are all members of the ANC and are participating in the BGM meetings, 4.) Inform and request both active ANC and PRET members to nominate the Honourable Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as the new President and the Honourable DD Mabuza as the new Deputy President of South Africa,” Mathebula wrote.
