It is rumoured President Cyril Ramaphosa will appoint him as his deputy during a cabinet reshuffle.
ANC deputy president David Mabuza may deliver his last state of the province address before being elevated to being the country’s deputy president.
Mabuza, who is Mpumalanga Premier, will deliver the state of the province address on Friday and sources this week told a national dailythat President Cyril Ramaphosa will appoint him as his deputy.
It was previously thought that Ramaphosa will appoint Human Settlement Minister Lindiwe Sisulu as the deputy president and allow Mabuza to concentrate on building unity in the ANC across the country.
“Its a done deal,” an NEC source quoted in the Citizen said on Tuesday.
“DD is going to make his last Sopa on Friday. We know that he would like a female to replace him as Premier, the source told the national daily.
Either Cooperative Governance MEC Refilwe Mtsweni or Education MEC Reginah Mhaule may become the Premier until the 2019 elections.
