A manhunt has been launched by the Mpumalanga police for the arrest of the killers of the two taxi operators who were shot dead this week.

Police say both men were executive committee members of the KwaNdebele United Local and Long Distance Taxi Association (KULLDTA) and were killed in separate incidents on Monday and Tuesday respectively this week.

Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said Timothy Zwane, who was busy offloading commuters, was shot dead by unknown men who came to the Kgobokoane Taxi Rank in a black Mercedes Benz on Monday evening.

“During the shooting at the taxi rank, a commuter also sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition,” Hlathi said.

“The second incident occurred on Tuesday morning at about 9, in which 61-year-old Joel Mnguni was shot and killed after he apparently attended a taxi industry related meeting,” Hlathi said.

Anyone with information should call the cops on 082 302 6621 or 08600 10111.
