The lovers were asleep when the door was forced open.
The cops in Ermelo are investigating a case of attempted murder after a couple was attacked with a gun at their home in the township.
The incident happened at Ermelo’s Thusi township.
The lovers sustained injuries – with the man getting released from hospital, the woman is currently in ICU.

Police spokesman brigadier Selvy Mohlala said both the man and woman – a 26-year old – suffered gunshot wounds and were rushed to Ermelo general hospital.
Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela has condemned the attack.
She said it’s disturbing when people are attacked at their homes – where they supposed to feel “safest”.
“It is really disturbing when people are attacked where they are supposed to be safe,” she said.
