Mashatile addressed a memorial service of the late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela at the Sydney Choma banquet hall in Middelburg on Monday afternoon this week.
Madikizela-Mandela, the mother of the nation, died on 2 April 2018 at the age of 81.
She was at the Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg.
Mashatile said ‘Mr Unity’ needed a deputy and that was him.
