Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane has delegated agriculture MEC Vusi Shongwe to sign a bi-lateral agreement with the Russian government…

Shongwe is Mpumalanga government’s second-in-charge, being the leader of provincial government business.

The 5 Russian government leaders who were led by foreign economic relations minister Vasiliy Kozlov met with Shongwe in Mbombela’s government offices.

Shongwe said the visit by officials of one of the world’s most powerful countries is a continuation of previous agreements that then Premier and now deputy president DD Mabuza signed with Russia.

It is meant to “benefit the people of Mpumalanga” through human relations in health, education and tourism.

Kozlov said Russia had a lot to offer Mpumalanga in the field of technology, innovation and cyber security.

“The meeting resolved to establish a task team that will work on formulating concrete plans to execute the agreement,” the foreign minister said when answering journalists at Riverside government complex Thursday 6 February 2020.

Meanwhile, Shongwe had said a delegation from the Mpumalanga government will visit Russia’s Sverdlovsk region in July 2020 to continue engagements and implementations.
