It was between a truck and taxi.
Seven people died on the N4 around midnight Tuesday this week 10 March 2020 when the taxi they were traveling in lost control and crashed into the side of a moving heavy courier near Hectorspruit
The crashed happened at around 11h30 Tuesday night.
Mpumalanga community safety spokesman Moeti Mmusi said the taxi was going to Mozambique from Johannesburg. Mmusi said they suspected that the driver of the taxi may have lost control before plunging into the side of the truck.
“It is suspected that the driver of the taxi may have lost control before crashing into the side of the truck,” he said.
8 people from the taxi got injured, severely, and were rushed by paramedics to nearby hospitals.
“One of the injured 8 is the driver of the truck,” said Mmusi.
He said officials were investigating the real cause of the crash.
Community safety MEC Gabisile Shabalala sent her condolences and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
She said they always want motorists to make sure they stick to road safety rules and not find themselves “afflicting pain and untold suffering to many families”.
“Billions of rands were lost annually to deal with the aftermath of these deadly crashes which are mostly preventable,” she said.
