Be on the alert as these robberies are taking place along the roads around Graskop and Sabie – about 100km from the Kruger National Park.
A bell is being rung about a group of men posing as ‘tourist attendants’ in the Kruger levels region of Mpumalanga, who rob people of their belongings.
A number of tourists reported being robbed over the past weekend by tsotsis on the side of the road and officials say they can’t allow a situation like this to continue.
The suspects wear reflective jackets and pull tourists off the road. Then the robbery begins.
Tourism Update reports that over the past 10 days there have been 6 incidents involving the robbing of European tourists.
The tourists were traveling to their place of tour, others were leaving.
Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism President Oupa Pilane said tourism is their “absolute highest priority” in the area and will ensure such doesn’t continue.
“We are doing everything in our power to ensure that there is no repeat of these unfortunate incidents,” he said.
Safety and security MEC Gabisile Shabalala has been made aware and will “prioritise the situation”.
