Police said they arrested a 40-year-old man for the crime.
The police in Mpumalanga have said a 14-year-old boy was recently raped and a 40-year-old man is up for the rape.
Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said the 40-year-old appeared at the Kabokweni Magistrates Court Friday 31 July 2020 and is charged with rape.
Hlathi said the 40-year-old met the boy at a street in the area and they walked together.
Around the same area the boy was led to an abandoned house, where he was raped by the man.
Hlathi said the boy knew the man very well and they lived in the same area.
“He told his parents the story and the parents reported the matter to the police,” said Hlathi.
Meanwhile, police are currently investigating a matter of a 14-year-old boy who raped his 9-year-old cousin.
Hlathi said the police were told that the suspect tied the victim with a rope and covered her mouth with a cloth then raped her.
“This incident was uncovered by the mother of the victim when she returned from work, she then alerted the police,” said Hlathi.
Police boss Lieutenant-General Mondli Zuma said he was concerned about the increase in moral decay in our society.
Zuma condemned these men “who continue perpetuating abominable and vicious acts of sexual assault against minors and women”.
